StrathamWood Studios was founded in 2011 when Roger Myers retired from OSRAM a Siemens owned company.  After a career of over thirty-five years in manufacturing and engineering, the last twenty-seven with OSRAM from which he retired as a vice president with global responsibilities, Roger could now transition from a busy and fulfilling career in the corporate world to a more self-directed focus on designing and building custom furniture.  As Roger would say at the time, …”for many years I did what fed the family, now I can do what feeds the soul.”

A New England native, Roger has been woodworking for over 40 years, but with a busy career and family responsibilities, the making of furniture always took a back seat to other priorities.  A passion for learning has always been present and Myers sought every opportunity to further his education.  Earning an MBA from The Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University while working full time with a busy travel schedule was simply an opportunity that couldn’t be passed up.  That desire to improve continued upon his retirement in 2011 when with support and encouragement from his wife Kathi he applied for admission to the North Bennet Street School’s prestigious full time program in furniture making, entering the program in the fall of 2012.

Exhibiting with the school at The New England Fine Furnishings Show in Pawtucket RI he was awarded Best-in-Show in the traditional category for his federal style music stand, a recognition which was repeated again when his walnut demilune table captured Best-in-Show honors at the same show the following year, and once again in 2017 for his cabinet “Birds-eye View.

Roger was juried into The League of New Hampshire Craftsmen and his work has been exhibited at their gallery in Concord, NH and he is a regular exhibitor at the league’s annual Craftsmen’s Fair at the Mount Sunapee Resort in Newbury, NH.

In 2017, Roger was accepted into The New Hampshire Furniture Masters Association as one of their 2017 Invited Artists and became a full member in December 2018.

Roger lives in Stratham NH with his wife Kathi and has a daughter Kaitlin who is an actor living in New York City.
